The Town of Paradise is making a number of purchases to bolster its municipal services.
A new pump for the Camrose Drive lift station has been approved for purchase to the tune of $20,067.
Councillor Patrick Martin said the lift station is nearly 20 years old, and one of the two pumps in the station is nearing the end of its life.
The option to repair the existing pump for $13,340 plus HST was also floated, but the committee opted to replace it entirely.
A number of purchases regarding snow-clearing were also approved.
Every year, the Town orders new parts for its front-end loaders to ensure smooth operation and to prevent any potential breakdowns. To this end, Craig Manufacturing parts for the Town’s Madison Construction equipment have been approved for $13,399.
The purchase of new parts for the Town’s tandem dump trucks, which are restocked annually, has also been approved, at $20,504.
Repairs have also been approved for the unit 86 front-end loader, which will extend the life of the loader for three to five years, according to Martin. The cost of the repairs total $42,223 plus HST.
Martin pointed out the repairs and maintenance budget has been exhausted, but there are sufficient funds in the 2023 transportation services budget to carry out these purchases.
