Carbonear council hires consultant to oversee Lemarchant Road work

Carbonear council, during the public meeting of December 12, voted to award a consultant services contract for the LeMarchant Street Road Extension water, sewer, and storm upgrades project to WSP E & I Canada Ltd., in the amount of $99,939, HST included.

The motion to approve the contract passed unanimously and with no further discussion.

Council entered into a cost-sharing agreement with the provincial government back in October that will see the Province pay the lion’s share of the project’s costs.

The project is valued at just over a million dollars, for which council will only be on the hook for some $184,831.
