The Town of Paradise has purchased three new dump trucks, all equipped with snow clearing attachments.
Councillor Patrick Martin said last week the three vehicles have arrived at the dealer, but before acceptance of any vehicle, Town staff cross-reference the tender specifications with the unit received to ensure compliance. In this case, staff noted the vehicles have a different type of rear suspension mechanism than other Town vehicles.
“We currently have no units with this type of suspension, but based on discussions with other municipalities, as well as construction companies and the local suspension repair shop, staff are confident these trucks will support Town operations,” said Martin, who noted the company has provided a seven-year extended warranty instead of the usual one-year warranty.
The actual price of the trucks was not noted during the meeting.
During the same meeting, council also approved repairs to one of the Town’s front-end loaders in the amount of $21,028, HST included.
The front-end loader was brought to the garage when workers noted a noise in the front end of the machine. Mechanics determined the front axle pins needed to be replaced.
The repair is just the latest in a long line of vehicle repairs approved by council in recent months.
Since June, council has approved over $180,000 in vehicle repairs and maintenance.
