Council reviews draft rules to allow ATVs on some CBS streets

By Craig Westcott

The draft regulations are before a lawyer for review in the hopes that ATV drivers will have two routes available to them to legally drive through CBS come May 15, says councillor-at-large Paul Connors.
Council’s liaison on the ATV Advisory Committee provided the update at last week’s public council meeting.
“We are going through a process that we need to follow as per the Municipalities Act when we’re introducing new regulations,” said Connors. “And the ATV regulations are new of course to Conception Bay South. The draft regulations are prepared, and they’ve been reviewed by council and by the ATV Advisory Committee.”
Connors is hoping the legal review will be completed “in short order.
“And then we’ll have our next step which would be the public consultation and it’s the intention of council to have that public consultation in March,” said the councillor. “And then finally, hopefully, we’re still on target to have everything implemented by May 15 for the ATV users in Conception Bay South.”
