Neighbourhood Watch coming to Bay Roberts

Bay Roberts council is ready to launch a Neighborhood Watch program, which would be conducted as a pilot project for one year.
The idea for the program came from a conversation with a concerned resident. Council then asked staff to discuss the idea with the members of the Bay Roberts RCMP detachment, who offered their support.

During last week’s council meeting, Mayor Walter Yetman said the RCMP is looking to appoint a senior constable or corporal as a liaison with the group, who would also attend the group’s quarterly meetings to be held at a Town facility.
A report on the project’s effectiveness will be prepared one year after the initial meeting.
A motion to support the pilot project and its quarterly meetings passed unanimously.
