Paradise receives credit for unnecessary lift station part
By Mark Squibb
The Town of Paradise has received a credit of $1,150 after it was determined a part built into the new St. Thomas Line lift station construction contract was not needed.
During the March 4 public meeting, councillor Tommy Maher explained the contract called for the supply and installation of one back draft damper, but that damper was no longer required. As a result, Olympic Construction offered the Town a credit of $1,150 and will remove the damper from the contract.
The motion to accept the credit was approved unanimously.
Construction began on the $24 million lift station in January 2023. While the lift station was expected to be commissioned in the winter of 2025, that date has been delayed until summer.
The new lift station, which has been dubbed the St. Thomas Line Pump House, is expected to have a 50-year life span.
