CBN towns preparing for Remembrance Day ceremonies

With Remembrance Day fast approaching, communities are getting ready to hold events honouring late members of the armed forces and all veterans for their service.
Various towns in the Conception Bay North region shared details about their ceremonies.
At the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 15, located in Harbour Grace, the public is invited to attend the town’s Remembrance Day parade and service, which will take place on Tuesday, November 11. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m., starting from Taylor’s Marine and Recreation, Harvey Street. The service will start at 11:00 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, Harvey Street.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 9, located in Spaniard’s Bay, will have a wreath-laying at the Spaniard’s Bay Cenotaph on November 11. On November 15 the members will be have a Remembrance Day dinner. The Holy Redeemer student who won the Remembrance Day poster, poem, and essay contest will attend and receive an award at the dinner.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 32, Bay Roberts will have a Remembrance Service at the Bay Roberts Cenotaph on November 11 at 11:00 a.m. In the case of inclement weather, the service will take place at the Salvation Army Citadel instead. Following this, there will be entertainment by Reg House at the Legion starting at 2:00 p.m.
The towns of Brigus and Cupids alternate annually as hosts of their shared Remembrance Day ceremony. This year it will take place in Cupids at the town’s cenotaph at 11:00 a.m. on November 11. Members of the Brigus Legion, Branch 65, and other representatives will be in attendance.
Years ago, various towns came together to upgrade the Clarke’s Beach War Memorial. Residents from these communities gather at the memorial each Remembrance Day to honour veterans from participating towns and remember those who died in the line of duty. As with the neighbouring ceremonies, the Clarke’s Beach Remembrance Day ceremony will take place on November 11 at 11:00 a.m.
