More patrols in Paradise’s Elgin Park
By Mark Squibb
The Town of Paradise has increased patrols of the park and playground just off Elgin Drive following a number of noise complaints, but any additional security measures won’t be discussed until budget time.
In his recreation committee report last week, committee chairman and councillor Patrick Martin noted the matter had been discussed at the recreation committee held June 25.
In response to Martin’s report, councillor Larry Vaters noted that patrols had been increased recently, but asked what other measures the Town is considering to ensure that residents’ “quality of life is not impacted by late night noise.”
Martin said the committee had an extensive discussion on the subject.
“We’ve been having some problems with some late night, we’ll say teens, or youth down in the park, keeping awake all night long,” said Martin. “So, we’re going to be looking at some improvements during the budget cycle. We’re going to bring some recommendations back for budget talks to see what we can approve.”
The park is nestled between Ellesmere Avenue and Elgin Drive, and is accessible by Elgin Drive, Ellesmere Avenue, and Canterbury Drive.
