Bay Roberts Town Council discussed two new business permit applications, one of which will surely perk up the ears of a few sports fans.

The first item discussed was a proposed indoor golf simulator which would be located on Bishops Road.

Councillor Dean Franey was enthusiastic about the proposed business.

“As someone who golfs, I’m glad to see something like that,” he said. “Knowing a lot of people that golf, it’s something I’ve heard people say they’d love to see in the area. It’s another business to bring people into town from somewhere else.”

The applicant also has plans to apply for a liquor license for the property, which Mayor Walter Yetman said will be discussed at another time.

“It’s a new and unique business,” Yetman said. “If it moves forward, it would be a great addition to the services we provide.”

Council also discussed a permit for a location on Excel Place that would offer walk-in cosmetic procedures.

Council approved the permit, pending a successful fire and life safety inspection.
