Crawley says ‘zero tolerance’ for bullying in Holyrood
By Mark Squibb
Holyrood Mayor Laura Crawley took some time during the opening minutes of last week’s public council meeting to declare the town has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to bullying and harassment.
“Our town thrives more when everyone feels safe, heard, represented, and respected,” said Crawley. “So, we want to be clear that harassment and bullying have no place in the Town of Holyrood. Whether we’re in person or online, we have a zero-tolerance policy.”
Crawley said any behaviour that demeans council, staff or residents of the town will not be tolerated.
“We want to make sure that we are all heard and respected,” said Crawley. “We don’t want things weaponized when they have no place to be used in that way.”
Crawley said there are a number of ways residents can appeal a decision of council, and that staff would be happy to help residents with the process.
“When you use different means to go about that, it is demeaning our work in the town,” said the mayor.
