A warm hug for those in need

A WARM HUG FOR THOSE IN NEED—Members of the Ocean View Quilters Guild donated 28 handcrafted quilts to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s Crisis Response Team last week. The quilts will be used at the officers’ discretion to provide comfort to people they are helping through traumatic situations. The presentation took place at the CBS Lions Den in Long Pond where the 75-member guild meets monthly. On hand for the presentation were, starting in the front row, from left: Jill Camp, Regina Walsh, Jennifer Peddle Sheila Wooley, Crisis Response Team Social Worker Shelby Stone, RNC Cst. Stephanie Carter, Donna Nolan, Valerie Gregory, Barb Ralph, Cindi Farrell, and Trudy Strowbridge; and in the back, from left: Penney Pearcey, Kathy Dawe, Bev Butt, Sheila Ford, Theresa MacLean, Pat Best, Nancy Parsons, and Cathy Grandy. Absent from the picture is RNC Sgt. Julie Cunningham who helped initiate the project. Craig Westcott photo
