Teamsters and Town of Carbonear to begin bargaining

By Craig Westcott

The Town of Carbonear has received a notice from its unionized workers to begin negotiations on a new collective agreement.
“A meeting date will be arranged with the union in the near future,” finance committee chairman Peter Snow reported to council last month.
The 30 or so workers are members of the Teamsters union. The local consists of workers in the Town Hall, public works and recreation departments. The union does not represent management staff, an executive assistant to management, or the Town’s part time pool workers.
