It may not have been a disco inferno, but these disco queens were clearly feeling down the beat during their second annual pub crawl through Carbonear this past summer. Like last year’s Three’s Company themed crawl, this year’s event was also a fundraiser, this time in aid of Ray Carpenter, who has been suffering from Parkinson’s the past few years and has been accepted for surgery in Ontario in the hope of gaining a much better quality of life. The pub crawl, with its ticket sales, 50/50 draw and donations raised $2009. “Hopefully this can help in some small way, maybe a plane ticket, or maybe for an hotel room, said Jennifer Sharpe, who organized the event with Kelly Antle and Marjorie Clarke. “The three of us have decided to hopefully do a fundraiser like this every year. It’ll always be a different theme, and we will find someone who can use a little help.” On hand for this year’s crawl were Kelly Antle, Bernadette Cantrell, Freda Young, Christa Langer, Chirstine Deering, Marilyn Carpenter, Tammi Butt, Ada Slade, Linda Baldwin, Tina Batten, Marg Hopkins, Kim Pottle, Liz Earle, Linda Merrigan, Lynnette Ross, Josie Dawe, Bailey Mahoney, Emily Fewer, Victoria Boone, Erica Young, Kayley Marques, Marge Roberts, Marjorie Clarke, Jennifer Sharpe, Donnette Carpenter, Melissa Langdon, Juanita Fahey, Winnie Neil, Frankie Higdon, Shelly Carpenter and Brook Higdon.
