New field lamps may light the way to bigger events

By Craig Westcott

Now that the Holyrood softball field has lighting for night games, the sky could be the limit when it comes to attracting more tournaments, suggested councillor Sadie King.
“I’m sure most of you know or have seen that the softball field is now lit,” King noted to her colleagues during the recreation committee report last month. “It’s something that’s a long time in the making – many, many years.”
King said the Town could not have accomplished it without the cooperation, creativity and professional support of Upper Limit Industrial, which did the installation.
“The work is completed and the lights were designed specifically for out field,” King said. “Special attention was given to every detail including designing appropriate brackets to hold the lights to each light being specifically aligned according to a professional surveyor.”
These particular types of lights are also designed for longevity, she added. “So, they’re not going to go (out) tomorrow or the next day,” said King.
“The lights now open our field to other national and international (softball) events,” she added.
