Holyrood mayor looking forward to a returnto Friday nights under the lights

Councillor Mable Tilley shone with excitement as she brought forward a motion last month to submit a gas tax application in the amount of $100,000 to install lighting at the Town’s softball field.
“Getting outdoors and playing is humongous,” said Tilley. “I grew up on the softball pitch and it is an absolutely wonderful team environment. Throughout the years, we’ve always had our softball field up there, but it’s been limited to daylight hours and has been limited to who can go, and at what times, because as you know, our evenings are short, and we have a lot of people that want to go there. So, having lights there is huge, and it will add a great benefit to our community.”
Tilley said the move will open the field more for both youth and adult leagues.
“This is great,” agreed Mayor Gary Goobie. “It’s been tossed around now for the last several years. We’ve heard loud and clear from many residents in the community who enjoy playing softball. Unfortunately, we’ve had other initiatives we had to commit funding towards. Finally, now we’re able to get the lighting installed and,
