Earles makes the cut for World University Games in Germany

Conception Bay South’s elite short distance runner Danny Earles has qualified for the FIFU (Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire) World University Games in Germany next month.

The Topsail speedster has been dominating the 200 metre, 300 metre and 400 metre track in Western Canada and the northwestern United States as a member of the Trinity Western University Spartans. He qualified for Team Canada last month by setting a new personal best time in the 400-metre category.

In Germany, he will compete in the 400 metres and the men’s 4×400 metre relay.

Earles is delighted to make the team, but now has to raise the money to make the trip as Team Canada’s FISU team is entirely self-funded, which means the athletes are responsible for covering the costs to attend, including the flights and accommodation, team registration and competition fees, and gear, food, and local travel.
“I’m currently looking for sponsorships to support my athletic journey more broadly, and I’m also seeking donations to help cover the immediate costs of competing at the FISU World University Games,” said Earles. Anyone interesting in helping Earles meet the cost of the trip can make a donation on  GoFundMe by looking for daniel-earles-team-canada-fisu-world-university-games.
