Paradise strikes sweet deal
By Mark Squibb
The Town of Paradise has secured vending machine services at the Double Ice Complex for at least another two years.
Councillor Patrick Martin, during the January 7 public meeting, noted the Town’s vending machine services agreement expired in 2019 and had been auto renewed year-over-year since that time.
The Town issued a request for proposals in November and received three bids. Staff weighed the proposals on both financial and technical merit, and Browing Harvey Ltd., was awarded the highest score.
The contract includes the supply of five new vending machines – three beverage machines and two snack machines — to replace the machines currently at the facility.
The vending machines will allow for cash or card payment — although a fee will be applied to cashless transactions — and the products will cost $2.
The Town on average collects $3,396 in vending commissions annually and will pay an annual lump sum of $10,000 for the machines.
Council approved the two-year deal unanimously, with an option to renew.
