CBS places order for $1.45 M fire truck

By Craig Westcott

CBS council has given the Fire Department approval to buy a $1.45 million pumper rescue firetruck, but the firefighters will have to wait until 2026 to use it.

Ward 3 councillor Gerard Tilley said the purchase is part of the Town’s and fire department’s fleet replacement program.

“This is just one of those necessary evils where we have to spend a bit of money to purchase a much-needed fire equipment for our Town,” he said.

Tilley said he can remember when the Town bought it’s first such unit from the same supplier back in 2007.

“So, we definitely got some good years of that fire truck, and we look forward to delivery of the new modern fire apparatus for our firefighters,” he added.

Tilley noted it will take up to 24 months before the truck is delivered.

“So even though we’re approving it now, it’s going to be a couple of years before we see it,” Tilley said. “We have to make the plunge now so that we’ll get it for 2026.”
