Emergency repairs at Topsail sewage plant

The Town of CBS had to make emergency repairs recently to the old sewerage treatment plant in Topsail.

Ward 4 councillor Melissa Hardy, who chairs the Town’s engineering committee, said Sansome Equipment Limited took care of the repairs at a cost of $25,978.

A Town spokesperson later specified the emergency repairs entailed rebuilding the rotating assembly in one of the pumps at the plant.

The facility, which is located near the Topsail Soccer Pitch, is no longer used to treat sewage but is used instead to pump waste from the east end of CBS to the treatment plant at Cronin’s Head in Kelligrews.
