Carbonear councillor says rec centre needs water bottle station

By Mark Squibb

Carbonear councillor Danielle Doyle says the town’s recreation complex needs a water bottle filling station.

Doyle, during the September 24 public meeting, said she thought the water station might have been included in recent renovations done at the Carbonear swimming pool, but that proved not to be the case.

Doyle noted the complex, which boasts the swimming pool, tennis courts, seasonal ice rinks, softball fields, basketball court, soccer fields, skateboard park, and playground, not to mention nearby Paddy’s Garden, is the most heavily used recreation facility in town

“I was recently there for the Summer Games and there were tonnes of people asking if there was a water station,” said Doyle. “Plus, having a water station reduces waste from water bottles and disposable cups.”

Doyle, who noted that the water station had been discussed by members of the public works committee in the past, asked that a water bottle filling station be put back on the agenda for further discussion.
