Cost of latest change order under negotiation

By Mark Squibb

Paradise council has approved another change order for the Lift Station 10 construction project, although Town staff and the contractor have yet to nail down a price.

“Typically, a fair and reasonable price is negotiated between the parties and the contemplated change notice brought forward to council for acceptance and issuance of the change order,” said councillor Glenn Carew. “We have yet to reach an agreement on a fair and reasonable price for this work. The work must proceed as it’s nearing a critical path on the project schedule.”

Carew said that failure to authorize the work could result in the contractor requesting compensation for project delays. He said that issuing the change order would authorize the contractor to proceed with the work while both parties continue to negotiate a price. Once an agreement is reached, the price will be brought forward to council for formal approval.

The change order is for “electrical additions and deletions on the project.”
