Paradise adds vapes and cannabis to the naughty list

Paradise council has broadened it’s ‘No smoking’ policy.
“The No Smoking policy was adopted in 2013 and it requires changes and updates to reflect changes in legislation,” said councillor Larry Vaters at last week’s council meeting. “The policy has been updated to add references to e-cigarettes, vaping devices, as well as cannabis, and to add additional information to reporting violations of the policy.”
Council unanimously approved the updates.
As per the policy, smoking is banned in all Town-owned buildings and vehicles, and all Town-owned outdoor facilities, with the exception of parking lots. Anybody smoking in a parking lot must remain a minimum of 10 metres from doors, walkways, and other public spaces such as sports fields and playgrounds.
The provincial government’s Smoke-Free Environment Act, which passed in 2005 and bans smoking in all public spaces, also makes references to e-cigarettes, vaping, and cannabis.
