Newfoundland’s Anchormen Chorus capture titles

Newfoundland’s Anchormen Chorus captured two big titles at the recent Atlantic Canadian Barbershop Singing Championships in Sydney, Nova Scotia. The St. John’s-based singers took home both the Overall Chorus Championship and Small Chorus Championship. The quartet “Duly Noted,” comprised of Anchormen Chorus members, also secured the award for Top Overall Quartet. “We are thrilled and honored to have been recognized at the Barbershop Harmony Society Sunrise Division’s Atlantic Canadian Barbershop Singing Championships,” said director Doug Dunsmore. “This win highlights the dedication, camaraderie, and love for the art of barbershop harmony within the chorus.” Here with the trophies are, starting in the front row, from left: Brendan Ryan, Taylor McKinnon, Don Piercey, Doug Dunsmore, David Thompson, Dave Griffiths, Rob Thomas, and Brian Yager; and in the back row, from left: Steve Kennedy, Paul Moore, Nick Leblanc, Steve Martin, Joshua Warren, Jamie Warren, and John Flood. Missing are Dom White, Harry Young, Bruce Doulton, Roy Maybee, Dave Pike, Paul Tilley, Aidan Saccary, Wilson Aitken, Steve Lacey, Lester Bowering, and Daniel Burke. Dunsmore said the Anchormen Chorus is always on the lookout for new members. Rehearsals are Monday nights, 7:30 p.m., at the Arts and Culture Center in the 4th Floor Rehearsal Room.
