The real McCoy or a real decoy?

Hikers and bikers on the T’Railway in Kelligrews the past few weeks have been startled to see what looks to be a Trumpeter swan bobbing on the waters of Conception Bay. According to the book, Birds of North America, the Trumpeter is one of this continent’s biggest fowl, mostly found on marshes, lakes and rivers in the interior of the U.S., and Canada. It would be extremely unusual for a Trumpeter to be in Newfoundland, especially on salt water. A Shoreline reader with a lifetime of experience on the water reckons this particular bird is a fake.
