Seal Cove the place to be on World Trails Day, says Noseworthy

Newfoundland T’railways is inviting the public to a special event on June 1 to celebrate World Trails Day.

Folks will meet at 10 a.m. at the Seal Cove ATV Staging Area near Indian Pond in Seal Cove, CBS for snacks, coffee, live entertainment, and ticket draws.

ATV enthusiasts will then be invited to ride as far as Avondale, have a BBQ, and then return to Seal Cove. But Newfoundland T’railways representative Rick Noseworthy said the event is not just for ATV users.

“Everybody is invited,” said Noseworthy. “Walkers, cyclists, hikers, anybody with anything to do with any trail is welcome to come up.”

Noseworthy, known for his many years of advocating for responsible ATV use in the town, said the T ’railway, which allows both motorized and non-motorized traffic, is an important amenity enjoyed by many.

The event will be sponsored by Trans Canada Trail, and is set to be one of 10 events occurring across the country in recognition of World Trails Day.

“It’s the first time we’ve done something like this, so we don’t know what the turn out will be,” said Noseworthy. “As you could appreciate, the first of June could be a snowstorm. But we’re hoping for the best… We’re really looking forward to it.”
