Thank you to all voters in this byelection

Regarding the Paradise by-election: Many complained, few Voted!
With thanks and respect to the persons that voted, it is dismaying to see that the voice of the people does not get to the ballot box.
With such a low turnout, as seen by the election results, how can anyone expect things to be any better?
If people are content to pay taxes and give the impression that they do not care who runs their town, how can you expect your concerns to be taken seriously?
Our democracies are failing as we time and time again forsake our franchise and thus reduce our influence as a majority in political outcomes.
We all look for the best quality and qualifications in most things we decide on in life, except the most important choice of choosing our leaders.
I do not blame the electorate in this demise; it is the result of many years of disillusion from unfulfilled promises and the degradation of our standards of living.
We need to re-energize our collective power by valuing our franchise and using it to result in a democracy which represents our hopes and dreams.
Thank you to all voters in this byelection.

Respectfully yours,
Tony Kelly,
Paradise
