Capturing the old family store

Cherie Bursey Cable and Rod Bursey were in the CBS council chambers earlier this winter to present the Town with a painting of the old Pennell grocery store by artist Ken Power in memory of their mother Elizabeth Ruby “Betty” Bursey. The store was attached to the Pennell home, where Betty would have grown up with parents Reuben and Enid. The store was passed down through the family for a number of generations before closing in the late 1980’s. Ward 3 councillor Gerard Tilley accepted the painting on council’s behalf, as the store was located in his ward.
