Town of CBS to buy more vehicles
By Mark Squibb
CBS council last week approved the purchase of two new loaders at a cost of over a half a million dollars.
The first was a 2024 178 horsepower loader with snow clearing equipment from Canoe Procurement at a cost of $418,572 plus HST. The second was a 2024 70 horsepower loader with attachments from Madsen Equipment at a cost of $178,800 plus HST.
Ward 4 Councillor Melissa Hardy noted there is a backlog of vehicles that need replacement following the pandemic, an observation that has been echoed in council chambers around the region in recent months.
Just last month, council gave approval for staff to tender for the purchase of one municipal tractor, one single axle dump truck with plow attachments, one new fire pumper rescue, and eight new light duty pick up trucks in a variety of sizes.
At that time, Hardy said council should expect more motions regarding fleet replacement coming down the pipeline.
