Latest veteran to receive a Quilt of Honour

Master Corporal (Ret) William (Bill) Dawe of CBS is the latest veteran to receive a Quilt of Honour. It was presented earlier this month on behalf of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 50 in Kelligrews. Dawe enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in June 1964. His 25-year military career included postings to CFB Gagetown, New Brunswick, CFB London, Ontario, CFB Baden-Soellingen in West Germany and CFB Halifax, Nova Scotia. Dawe also completed two peacekeeping missions – to Cyprus in 1967 and in 1970 to Ottawa and Hull during the FLQ October Crisis. With his spouse Regina, the Long Pond resident is a member of the CBS Legion, participating in annual Remembrance Day Parades and volunteering his time to place flags on the graves of local deceased veterans to recognize their service. Bill is shown above with his wife Regina.
