Carbonear calls short meeting to make some purchases and pay the bills

The Town of Carbonear last Thursday called a special public meeting to address a handful of items.

The meeting lasted just under three minutes, but in those three minutes council agreed to spend roughly $177,000.

The lion’s share of that was an invoice made payable to Black Diamond for phase 2 of Water Street water, sewer and street upgrades. Council also approved payment of a second invoice payable to Harris and Associates in the amount of $17,558.

Council also voted to award a contract to Black Diamond to supply and install concrete bases at the softball field scoreboard at a cost of $9,650 plus HST, and to purchase a new auto scrubber for the Carbonear Swimming Pool from Global Industrial at a cost not exceeding $6,596, plus HST and shipping.
