Carbonear council mulling new fireworks policy

A new fire prevention policy being drafted by the Town of Carbonear could include guidelines regulating the use of fireworks.
Councillor Chris O’Grady made a note of the potential policy during a Finance and Administration committee report during this week’s public meeting held Tuesday.
“We’re looking at incorporating maybe some things (into the policy) around fireworks, so we will get a draft together and, I guess that will be discussed by council in the coming weeks, before we approve that policy,” said O’Grady.
The new regulation would be a part of the Town’s new Fire Prevention Policy.
Under the Towns current nuisance regulations, fireworks, along with use of firearms and similar ‘noise-making devises,’ are not permitted except by approval of council and law enforcement.
