Carbonear approves upgrades to War Memorial Park

The Town of Carbonear will complete upgrades to the war memorial park as part of the ongoing work along Water Street next year.

Council approved a motion during the December 13 meeting that would allow Harris and Associates, currently contracted for consulting services on phase two of the Water Street upgrade project, to complete the upgrades to the tune of $18, 120 plus HST.

Chief Administrative Officer Cynthia Davis said the plan is to improve accessibility by removing some of the retaining walls for planters throughout the park and continue the new pavers being used on Water Street into the park. Upgrades will include additional streetlights as well.

The upgrades are part of the much larger Water Street Upgrade Project phase two of which was helped along by over a million dollars in funding from the federal and provincial governments.
