Holyrood ready to welcome Santa Claus

By Mark Squibb/November 18, 2021

The Town of Holyrood is getting into the Christmas spirit.

Councilor Curtis Buckle said last week that the town’s Christmas events are in the planning, and that information will out in the coming week.

Buckle highlighted some of the events coming up over the next month.

Beginning November 29, folks can drop off donations of non-perishable food items and toys for Toy Mountain at Town Hall. Donations will be accepted until December 15.

“That event over the last several years has gone over really well,” said Buckle. “It’s great to see people support it and drop off donations here at the town hall, so we hope for a good turnout again this year.”

The lighting of Holy Cross Park, which did not go ahead last year as an in person public event, will take place on Monday, December 6, and the Santa Clause parade will go ahead on December 12.

That event also did not go ahead last year due to COVID.

“I’m sure there’s a lot of people in the community and neighboring communities looking forward to it, especially the young kids, so we hope for a good turnout and a great day on December 12 for our parade,” said Buckle.
