An excursion around the bay turned out to be well worth the trip for the Roncalli Central High Senior Boys Softball Team last month as they came home as the new reigning 4A Boys Varsity Slowpitch softball champs. The School Sports NL championship for the Avalon’s 4A division was hosted by Carbonear Collegiate and featured Holy Spirit High, O’Donel High, Holy Trinity High, Lewisporte Collegiate and Stephenville High. Patrick McGrath of the Cardinals was named MVP of the tournament. Roncalli beat O’Donel 18-9, Stephenville 11-5 and Lewisporte 15-0 on their march to the championship. Riley Snow received the award for showing the most sportsmanship.
