Commuters in Paradise may want to consider a different route home, as work near the Paradise Road, McNamara Drive, Clearview Heights roundabout will be ongoing.

Councillor Deborah Qulity announced the upcoming work during the April 16 public meeting.

A preconstruction meeting with Fairview Investments, NL Power, Progressive Engineering, Harbourside Engineering Consultants, and Municipal Affairs was held Friday, April 12.

Clearview planned to mobilize its equipment on the site April 22, initially with one crew, working up to three crews by the end of the week.

Two crews are working on the McNamara Drive sewer upgrade, while another crew would be mobilizing to the top of Clearview Heights to begin underground work.

Fairview is scheduled to start the actual construction of the roundabout the first week of June. All property and easement acquisitions required for roundabout construction are complete, while it is ongoing for Clearview Heights.

In 2018, the Town budgeted $1.5 million for the construction of the roundabout, and $2 million for upgrades to Clearview Heights, and in 2019 set aside $12 million for various road projects, infrastructure, and capital works projects including regular street rehabilitation, completion of the Topsail Road – McNamara Roundabout, and upgrading Clearview Heights.
