Senior meal program expands to region
By Local Journalism Initiative Reporter Tyler Waugh
A social enterprise that helps fund non-profit driven programming for seniors across the region has expanded its food service to the major centres outside St. John’s.
Encompass Meals is operated by Connections for Seniors, which supports the operation of the non-profit run Cherry Lane Manor in Conception Bay South (CBS), and is now offering its frozen meal service in CBS, Paradise and Mount Pearl.
“Many people are looking for practical meal options for themselves, aging parents, or loved ones,” said Jennifer Paturel, social enterprise manager with Connections for Seniors. “This service helps meet that need while also helping fund programs that support seniors in our communities.”
The service provides chef-prepared frozen meals with convenient ordering and delivery options designed to support seniors looking for affordable quality ready-made meals. Meals are prepared locally, frozen for freshness, and available through weekly online ordering. Local delivery is also available and orders can be placed online at:

Connections for Seniors is based out of St. John’s, but Paturel said Connections for Seniors supports seniors throughout CBS, Paradise, and Mount Pearl by providing services that promote independence, improve quality of life, and reduce barriers to remaining in their communities.
“Encompass Social Enterprise is designed to help older adults remain independent, safe, and connected in their own homes for as long as possible. One of Connections for Seniors goals through our mission,” said Paturel, adding that other social enterprise services offered include transportation, snow clearing, home maintenance support and other practical assistance for day-to-day challenges.
