Pond Road concerns continue to bubble to the surface
Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor;
Recent announcements and approvals within the Town of CBS for water and sewer upgrades at the Gateway will cost $2.5 million dollars, the Town contributing $700,000. Another $3.3 million is for lot upgrades in the same location. Another agreement extending water and sewer in the Seal Cove area for $5 million has the Town’s contribution pegged at $1.4 million.
On March 27, a concerned citizen posted on Facebook about a sewage spill highlighting women’s products, toilet paper and human excrement running along Pond Road, in ditches and around Canada Post mailboxes.
The undersigned texted the Facebook post to the mayor and received a prompt reply stating, “Hi, no I haven’t seen it. If it’s something of concern, it should be passed along to the engineering department.”
The Town responded on April 2nd noting the Town could only react to the incident that was caused by snow, followed by rain. A common occurrence one would think.
During a similar incident almost six years ago, the Town responded in the same fashion noting the lift station circa 1983, on Pond Road, overflows once or twice a year during power disruptions, blockages and heavy rainfall events.
Guess our Town thinks that’s still okay in 2026?
Boggles the mind.
Respectfully yours,
Neil Penney
