Paradise warns flyers crew to respect the rules

The Town of Paradise has issued a warning to Post Media regarding disorderly delivery of flyer bags, as many flyer bags are ending up in driveways and front yards rather than on front steps.
Should the problem persist, fines could be following.
Councillor Sheldon Antle broached the issue during council’s February 3 committee of the whole meeting.
During his planning report, the councillor explained municipal enforcement officers have raised increased concerns regarding flyer bag delivery, in contravention of the Town’s anti-litter by-laws.
“Go Bags have been an issue brought forward by several residents, brought forward by councillors, brought forward by all of us at one point in time,” said Antle. “Go Bags are absolutely allowed as part of the Town process. They’re technically called ‘hand-deliverables,’ so they actually have to be put on your doorstep. The issue that we’re dealing with is that they’re being thrown, maybe towards the porch but not quite getting there, so they’re landing on driveways and lawns. They’re being strewn about and causing considering consternation for residents.”
Antle said he had heard of some flyer bags being sucked into snowblowers.
“We have contacted the supplier about our concerns over delivery of the flyers, and we have been advised that they will address it with delivery personnel,” said Antle. “They said they are technically considered hand mail, so they should be delivered to the door. Recently, a municipal enforcement officer caught a driver throwing the Go Bags and issued a warning directly to the driver.”
Antle said staff have issued a final notice to Post Media with respect to the issue, and furthermore, should the problem persist, staff can issue fines under the Town’s anti-littering bylaw.
