The Town of Conception Bay South had hardly laid the finishing touches on a brand new $308,125 playground at Topsail Beach August 24 when a crew of sword-wielding pirates showed up demanding to cut the ribbon. All that Mayor Darrin Bent, centre, and the other councillors on hand including Christine Butler, Joshua Barrett, Shelley Moores, Deputy Mayor Andrea Gosse and Rex Hillier could do was grin and join in. The playground has a rubber surface and special features to accommodate children with physical and other challenges.
