Annual Review of Southern Cross cadets highlights dedication, excellence

The 251 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps (RCSCC) Southern Cross hosted it’s 50th Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) earlier this month at Roncalli Central High in Avondale. The ACR is a cap-stone event where cadets display their skill and precision through marches and drills. Following the presentations was a short award ceremony. Natalie Beh was awarded the Navy League of Excellence. Tyler Doyle was awarded the Royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence. Aiden Winsor was awarded the Lord Strathcona Medal. Frank Dalton was awarded the Citizenship Award, which is a new award designed to recognise a cadet’s contribution to the community. Kaylee Mercer was named Cadet of the Year. Natalie Beh, Aiden Winsor, and Tyler Doyle received their fourth-year service medals. Wendy Dalton received her fifth-year service medal. Kaylee Mercer, Frank Dalton, and Lexi Power received their six-year service medals. The cadets were much applauded by the many family, friends, and special guests who came out for the special night. Ret Lt(N) Eugene Legge, C.D., who marched with Southern Cross in its early years, served as Reviewing Officer for the evening.
