Paradise to establish ‘Community Hall of Fame’

By Mark Squibb

The Town of Paradise is establishing its very own community hall of fame.

Councillor Jennifer Hiscock said staff had initially suggested a sports hall of fame, but the concept has grown to include more areas of the community.

“Rather than focus solely on sports, staff believe the community will be better served by a community hall of fame and recognition program,” said Hiscock. “This approach would provide the opportunity to celebrate and preserve achievements across multiple sectors.”

Categories will include sports, recreation, arts, culture, heritage, and community service.

“At present, the municipality does not have a formal program to formally recognise and preserve these achievements and contributions, so establishing a community hall of fame will establish a meaningful and lasting way to honour individuals, teams, groups, and organizations that have demonstrated excellence, leadership, innovation and outstanding service,” Hiscock said.
