CBS council approves demolition of burned home

Conception Bay South council has confirmed a demolition order for a home badly damaged by fire at 62 LeDrews Road in Kelligrews.
Staff issued the demolition order on February 25.
“This property had a structure fire back in 2024, and staff have gone through a process of trying to have this addressed,” said Deputy Mayor Andrea Gosse. “This has to be dealt with.”
Ward 3 councillor Gerard Tilley voiced his support for the motion.
“This particular property, we’ve been having issues there for quite a number of years,” said Tilley. “Fire did extensive damage to the house and it’s to the point where it’s unsafe, and so we have to take the action to remedy that.”
Town documents indicate the home has not been occupied since the fire on March 15, 2024. Staff inspected the property in July of 2024, and again in September that year. On July 4, 2024, staff attempted to contact the owner, but the letter went unclaimed.
The Town has received no applications to either repair or demolish the building.
