Paradise back charging for extra work on Carberry
By Mark Squibb
The Town of Paradise will be credited over $30,000 for additional site inspection hours related to water and sewer installation along Carberry Road.
The contract was awarded to Black Diamond Construction for $1,370,880, HST included, back in May.
Irvine Engineering completed the design work and anticipated a September completion date. The completion, however, was delayed due to the removal of bedrock that had been undetected during the design phase. The delay resulted in additional site inspector hours.
Council had formerly approved a change order for $31,050, HST included to cover the cost of the additional work. However, as the subcontractor agreement with Black Diamond stated that such an additional cost would be covered by the contractor, councillor Erin Furlong moved that council back charge for the additional work.
The motion was approved unanimously.
