Bay Roberts considering culvert policy

By Mark Squibb

Bay Roberts council has denied a request to install a culvert at a residential property on Country Road, as the Town does not install culverts on residential properties.
Council has asked the owner to let staff know if they intend to proceed with installation, so that a member of the public works department can be on site during the installation.
Councillor Silas Badcock suggested implementing a culvert installation policy, should the Town continue to receive requests for culverts. Council was agreeable to the idea.
In other public works news, council approved a change order for consulting services on phase one of the Shearstown Road project in the amount of $19,550, HST included, payable to WSP E & I Canada
The project is valued at about $2.4 million, with the cost split evenly between the municipal, provincial, and federal governments. Black Diamond has been contracted to complete the upgrades.
