Peacekeepers diversion to get pavement soon

By Craig Westcott

CBS Ward 4 councillor Melissa Hardy is assuring drivers that the temporary detour on Peacekeepers Way near the Lawrence Pond turn off will get a layer of pavement before winter settles in.

The detour has been in place since this past summer as crews work to install a larger culvert below the highway to handle potential storm volumes from Lawrence Pond Brook.

“I did have some residents reach out to me in Ward 4,” said Hardy, noting the concerns are equally applicable to all drivers who use the road.

Hardy said Town staff have raised the matter with officials from the provincial Department of Transportation.

“They’re certainly doing their best,” said Hardy. “They are a little bit behind schedule, but they’re looking to have the diversion road paved very soon… They’re working hard to get the diversion paved before the full winter season starts. So, we appreciate everyone’s patience there.”
