CBS dome will reach for the heights

The Town of CBS is changing its height restrictions to allow for the construction of the new lifestyle centre dome at the Gateway off Legion Road.

“The way it’s constructed, the height of it is beyond what’s permitted in the town at this point in time,” said councillor-at-large Rex Hillier. “So, we’re asking for an amendment to the regulations so that we can build this to a height of 30 metres.”

Mayor Darrin Bent pointed out the motion is site specific to the dome’s construction site, meaning the change isn’t applicable throughout CBS.

“This is a site-specific recommendation,” Hillier agreed, but added he expects to see a similar motion for the four-storey seniors apartment building planned for Rideouts Road.
