Pirates to Pilots afternoon tea
The women of Coughlan United Church in Harbour Grace held an afternoon tea and sale of goods during the Town’s Pirates to Pilots summer festival last month. The church is the fourth Methodist Church in the town, with two of its predecessors having been lost to fire, including one of them in Harbour Grace’s third Great Fire of 1944. The church is named for Lawrence Coughlan, an early Methodist preacher in North America who was active in Conception Bay in the 1760s and 1770s.
