Paradise approves Trenton Drive open space plot

By Mark Squibb

The Town of Paradise has awarded a design-build contract for the development of a plot of land long earmarked as a potential community space.
“The Town has identified 20 Trenton Drive, an open lot, as having the potential to be developed into a community space,” said councillor Patrick Martin during the July 22 public meeting. “In 2024, a concept plan was completed that guided potential uses and considerations for this open space.”
A request for proposals was issued and staff recommended council award the contract to Callixas Service Ltd., pending a final review, in the amount of $339,186, HST included.
“I know this one has taken a while,” allowed Martin. “There are a lot of residents up in the area that are waiting for this green space to be developed. This has been through a few budgets already and we’ve gone back-and-forth trying to get some approvals. We put $300,000 in the budget last year for this work and I’m looking forward to starting the work this year.”
The motion was approved unanimously.
The Town had previously hired Mills & Wright Landscape Architecture to hold public consultation sessions and draft the concept plan.
