A sunny sky and boisterous supporters greeted Jennifer Lake as she carried the Canada Summer Games torch through a section of Long Pond, CBS on July 23. Lake is a Canada Games Alumni having played for Newfoundland at the Games in Kamloops, B.C. in 1993. Her children Nathan, Jenna, and Carter, are also Canada Games alumni having represented Newfoundland at the Canada Games in Winnipeg, Niagara and Charlottetown, PEI, respectively. Lake, the longtime director of economic development with the Town of CBS, who is now on leave, is a champion volleyball coach at the high school, local and provincial level, and since a diagnosis of cancer has been a member of the Avalon Dragons Dragon Boat team.
