Largest student placement in CBS fire department’s history

The Conception Bay South Fire Department recently welcomed eight work-term students from Memorial University’s Safety and Emergency Response Training (SERT) Centre, the largest student placement in the fire department’s history. The students will gain hands-on experience working alongside the fire department members over the coming weeks. Students have already completed several training activities, including Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) fit testing. “We’re proud to support this level of student engagement and training,” said Fire Chief John Heffernan. “This program not only provides meaningful learning opportunities for the students, but it also strengthens our department by bringing in new perspectives and enthusiasm.” Pictured from left are students Scott Churchill, Sarah Warren, and Adam Bishop.
